Information for participants

 

Languages

Posters and slides for scientific presentations must be in English. Oral presentation and poster teasers are either in English or Japanese, while only English is used for symposia. General business meeting and board meeting are in Japanese.

 

Oral presentation

Fifteen minutes including discussion will be allotted for each presentation. Only PowerPoint slides will be used with an equipped computer. Please allow time for visas scanning of USB memory sticks.

Poster session

The maximum size of the poster is A0 portrait (841mm in width and 1189mm in height). Mounting materials for the posters will be supplied. Posters will stay up throughout the entire session. The poster teaser sessions allows 3-minute oral presentation for each poster with up to 2 PowerPoint slides. Please send the Power Point files attached to an e-mail to JSBSS23@jaxa.jp by September 30. Please be advised NOT to bring files in USB memory sticks on site.

 

Visiting the Tsukuba Space Center

Visit the reception desk prepared for JSBSS23 inside the Information (Building E-1) first. Show your passport to the receptionist and receive your name tag/access badge. Then proceed to the Headquarters Building (C-1)) showing your badge to a guard. Call at the conference registration desk and pay for registration.

 

The badge

Name tag/access badge is valid throughout the session, and must be worn while in the Space Center. The badge gives access to visitor area (E-2), cafeteria (C-2) and the Exhibition room (S-2) in addition to the meeting area.

 

Foods and beverages

Beverage vending machines are in the lobby of the Headquarters Building and in the cafeteria. The cafeteria is open on Friday, October 2. Open hours are 11:30-13:30 for lunch, and 17:30-19:45 for dinner. The cafeteria will be closed on weekends. Box lunch will be sold at the site on Friday, October 3.

A convenience store is located in the cafeteria building. Open hours are 8:00-20:00 on weekdays@and 8:00-17:00 on weekends.

 

Travel and hotel information

 

Train and Local Bus

Take a JR Joban Line train from Ueno and get off at Arakawaoki. Take a Kantetsu Bus for Tsukuba University and get off at Busshitu Kenkyusho (Natl. Inst. Material Sci).

Take a Tsukuba Express Line train from Akihabara to Tsukuba. Take a Kantetsu Bus to Arakawaoki and get off at Busshitu Kenkyusho (Natl. Inst. Material Sci).

 

 

Highway Bus/Airport Liner

Take a Joban Highway bus from Yaesu South Gate of Tokyo Station for Tsukuba Center /Tsukuba University and get off at Namiki-Icchome.

Take a Joban Highway bus from Haneda Airport for Tsukuba Center and get off at Namiki-Icchome.

From Narita Airport, take a Airport Liner to Tsuchiura station via Tsukuba Center. From Tsukuba Center, take a taxi or local bus.

 

Taxi

About 10 minutes, about 1,500 yen, to or from the Tsukuba Express Line Tsukuba station/Tsukuba Center bus terminal.

Osone Taxi 029-864-0301 will not charge extra for sending car to pick you up at the Space Center

Proceedings

No special volume featuring the proceedings of this annual meeting will be published. Instead, authors who made presentation to this meeting are encouraged to submit either full length or short papers to the journal gBiological Sciences in Spaceh on the same subject. The papers are judged for publication by the session chair and another reviewer from the editorial committee of the journal. Both short and full length papers will be published electronically at J-Stage (http://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/browse/bss) as well as in a printed issue.
